Voice Actress Says She Chose to Dub Hentai Herself
Mana T. Johson is an American voice actress who has been voicing characters in hentai. Apparently, certain hentai anime are being dubbed into English, including Nukitashi and Overflow, which are anime with hentai scenes.
She posted a tweet saying she was surprised to see people asking if she had been forced to dub hentai.
Mana T. Johson said:
“It’s so funny to me when people are like, ‘Wow, you agreed to voice ecchi/hentai?’ Wait until I tell you I auditioned alongside several other talented actors to get the role. Nobody had to ‘convince’ me of anything 😂😂 I was over here fighting to get to play a sexy woman.”
Mana T. Johson has voiced the following characters from adult anime:
- Imose Mimika from Kakushite! Makina-san!!
- Ikuko Onabuta from Nukitashi
- Kyouka Teshigawara from Ookii Onnanoko wa Suki Desu ka?
- Kotone Shirakawa from Overflow
All four anime mentioned above contain adult content.
While responding to people who commented on her tweet, Mana T. Johson mentioned a few things, including that hentai dubbing leads to plenty of laughs in the studio.
One person brought up the issue of not separating her adult-content work from her regular work, and Mana said:
“There are risks and benefits to either choice. I could use an alias and possibly work with clients I haven’t been approached by before. But if I had used an alias, I wouldn’t have been able to go to Anime Expo this year with the OceanVeil and Ascendent Animation booth.”
Anyway, I published this mainly to show that there are women who genuinely enjoy hentai and actively seek out work dubbing this type of content.
