This Isekai Light Novel’s Mission Is to Breed With Monster Girls

Japan’s publishing industry never seems to run out of ways to reinvent itself — or take otaku fetishes to increasingly specific levels. I was browsing the internet, minding my own business (well, sort of), when the Dash X Bunko account shared their latest light novel release.
It’s called Zesshi no Mori de Zetsumetsu Sunzen no Jingai Onee-san to Jiyuu na Isekai Hanshoku Seikatsu, which can be loosely translated as “A Free Reproductive Life in Another World with Monster Women on the Brink of Extinction in the Forest of Absolute Death.”
The Insane Premise of This New Isekai Light Novel
The story wastes no time with the usual heroic nonsense about “defeating the Demon King.” The opening line of the publisher’s announcement sums up the entire conflict: “We want you to breed with us.”
The story follows a protagonist who is transported to a legendary, inhospitable area known as the “Forest of Absolute Death” (Zesshi no Mori), a territory overrun by fantastical creatures and evil spirits.

However, instead of the survival nightmare you’d expect from a place like this, the protagonist encounters different tribes of non-human beings (jingai) whose female populations are on the verge of disappearing forever.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
To prevent these monster girls from going extinct, the protagonist begins living a carefree life, taking on the role of an official breeder and building a harem filled with monster girls.
The premise earned the work the Otona no Shousetsu Taishou (Adult Fiction Grand Prize), with the editorial team officially categorizing it as a jingai harem romantic comedy with some seriously spicy content.
Who Are the Monster Heroines? The Author Explains
After official promotional pages from publishers temporarily went down across the web, the light novel’s author, Hagiwara Hanshoku (a hilarious and deliberate pseudonym, since Hanshoku literally means “reproduction/breeding”), took to his public X account to detail the profiles of the three main heroines featured on the cover illustrated by Yona:

The purple-skinned beauty with muscles and a maternal instinct: An imposing woman with demonic features, a muscular body, and a striking presence, combining an intimidating physique with an overwhelming maternal side.

The elegant harpy with a military cap: A cool beauty-type character belonging to the harpy race, with a strict, serious demeanor and a distinctly military aesthetic.

- The ruthless tsundere plant girl: A being with botanical features who wears an expression of disgust and contempt, yet has no problem “draining” the protagonist’s strength down to the very last drop.
According to the author, this is a rare and valuable treat for fans of the monster girl niche, and he made sure to encourage readers to “enjoy the pleasure of breeding alongside them in this dangerous forest.”
