Oppai Curry

The creativity of Japan’s otaku industry knows no limits, and just when we think we’ve seen everything when it comes to themed food, the Japanese prove there’s always another level. Believe it or not, Oppai Curry (Boob Curry) was released in 2024 — an official, edible product that invites customers to shape their meal into the exact form of the breasts they’ve always dreamed of.

The item belongs to the classic neta goods category — Japanese products created mainly for jokes and humor. Far from being just an internet gag or a 3D render, this is a real instant curry (retort curry) that actually made its way onto Japanese store shelves.

The Concept Behind Oppai Curry

The slogan printed on the package sums up the whole concept without beating around the bush: “Create the shape and size of your dream breasts however you like and enjoy this retort curry.”

To make the joke work visually, the producers developed a sauce with a special light orange color, formulated to resemble human skin on the plate. Once the heated contents are poured over the rice you’ve shaped beforehand, the sauce’s smooth texture creates the anatomical illusion suggested by the product.

As for the flavor, it is classified as Amakuchi (mild/slightly sweet), indicated on the package with a small heart. Unlike traditional curries that go heavy on the spice, the sweeter formula is designed to appeal to a broader and more casual audience.

How To Prepare It: Step By Step

The product’s official insert even includes an illustrated cooking guide to teach buyers how to achieve the “perfect shape”:

  • 1. Shaping the rice base: Use two round bowls (donburi) to shape the hot rice to your preferred size. Place the two portions side by side on the plate and adjust the outline with a rice spatula.
  • 2. Adding the skin-colored sauce: Heat the pouch and pour the light-orange curry sauce over both mounds of rice, completely covering them.

  • 3. The finishing touches: To complete the final anatomical detail, add toppings to the top. The guide suggests ingredients such as halved cherry tomatoes, strawberry slices, or drops of ketchup to finish the look of the dish.

The Official Waifu: Who Is Ichika Sakura?

Why November 8?

Oppai Curry

The product was released on November 8, 2024, taking advantage of a curious tradition involving themed dates on the Japanese calendar. In Japan, November 8 is known as “Good Boobs Day” (Ii Oppai no Hi), thanks to a numerical pun (goroawase) based on the date 11/08:

  • 11 can be read as ii (いい), meaning “good” or “great.”
  • 0 can represent o (お).
  • 8 can represent pai (ぱい).

Together, 11/08 → いいおっぱい (ii oppai), forming the expression “good boobs.” The date was created by the Japanese company Vithmic and eventually gained popularity on social media, especially among gravure idols and illustrators, who use the occasion to post content related to the theme.

I have no idea if it’s still being sold. The website is still online, but the X account has been inactive since March 18, 2025.
