Netflix Sponsors "Anime Peace Studies Course" at Japanese University

Keio University has announced the launch of the Anime Peace Studies Course in partnership with Netflix, aiming to study the role of anime in promoting global cultural understanding. The project seeks to investigate how Japanese animated narratives can contribute to dialogue between different societies and to the construction of a culture of peace.

The Anime Peace Studies Course was created to analyze the social and cultural impact of anime as a form of artistic expression and a tool for connecting people. The course goes beyond the entertainment industry and focuses on concepts such as empathy, coexistence, solidarity, and mutual understanding between different cultures (how cute is that?).

Netflix faz parceria com CLAMP e mais para novos Animes

During the Anime Peace Studies Course, students will study how anime crosses national borders and creates global emotional connections (like making a mangaka leave Twitter after being heavily harassed). The expansion of streaming platforms, ESPECIALLY Netflix, plays a key role in this process.

In addition, the course also discusses how anime has become an important instrument of Japan’s soft power, influencing international perceptions and increasing interest in Japanese culture.

What do you honestly think?
