Firefighters Called to Rescue Buried Worker… but he was actually…

Today’s story from Strange Japan goes back to a news report from April 3rd this year. A company was demolishing a building in Sapporo when something happened that left everyone alarmed.

Workers realized that one employee was missing. No one could find him, and fearing the worst—that he might be trapped under concrete—firefighters were immediately called.

A search operation began, made even more difficult by the fact that it was already nighttime, around 9 PM on April 3rd.

Just imagine the situation: the team was demolishing a building, one worker suddenly disappeared, and fear quickly spread among everyone.

Firefighters and police started searching the site, but as time passed, they couldn’t find the missing worker, and concern kept growing… until they finally found him. Finally!

After the police were called.

After firefighters conducted their search.

After everyone became seriously worried.

The worker was found.

He was sleeping in his bed at home.

  • Did he just go home in the middle of work without telling anyone?
  • Roll call is important.
  • Does this really happen???
  • Good thing it ended in an “extreme level” of being okay, but seriously… how did this happen?
  • Did he never show up in the first place, or did he just quietly leave?
  • What was going on with this company’s attendance tracking?

We don’t have further details, but he probably got a serious talking-to.
