A woman arrested for canceling manga orders after repeatedly placing and canceling massive numbers of purchases from Shueisha’s online store. According to Japanese police, the actions caused major operational problems for the publisher and involved merchandise from famous series like One Piece and Naruto.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, a 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of obstructing business operations. She allegedly placed thousands of orders on Shueisha’s official online store between 2024 and 2025 but never completed the payments, causing the orders to be canceled.

The products included official merchandise from extremely popular Weekly Shonen Jump franchises such as One Piece and Naruto.

Investigators discovered that the suspect used 238 different accounts to place the orders. Shueisha estimates that the total value of the canceled products exceeded 4.3 billion yen, an extremely large amount of money.

This type of behavior can create serious problems for online stores, as products may remain reserved, affect inventory management, and prevent other customers from purchasing items normally.

During questioning, the woman admitted to the crime. According to her statement, she said that she enjoys anime in general and that simply placing the orders was enough to satisfy her desire, even though she never intended to complete the purchases…
