Steins Gate Remake Increased Kurisu’s Boobs and Fans Are Disappointed

Yesterday it was announced that the Steins;Gate visual novel will receive a remake titled Steins Gate Reboot, scheduled for release on PC, Switch 1 and 2, Xbox, PS4, and PS5 on August 20. This remake will not only fully update the character and background visuals but also add new story content.
One of the noticeable changes involves Kurisu. A fan quickly took a scene from the original game and compared it with the remake, noticing that the developers increased her bust size.

As you can see, the remake features completely new artwork, and it appears that her breasts have been made larger. It all started when a Twitter user with around 1,000 followers named Optyrion Primax posted a comparison saying, “Holy shit they buffed Kurisu.” The post quickly reached 2 million views and sparked several reactions such as:
- “You mean they nerfed her”
- “Yes, it got worse”
- “Flat lovers are treated so badly, why did they need to increase Kurisu’s chest when Mayuri exists?”
- “The newer one passes less emotion and I can’t quite explain why.”
- “DIS-GUSTING. She should have kept her small boobs. This is a complete nerf.”
- “I don’t care about the boobs, it’s more about the complete loss of the extremely unique art style that defined Steins;Gate and all its adaptations. I’m sure the game will be fine, but it will never be what I imagine S;G to be.”
- “The new illustration looks like she’s posing for a photo. The old one feels more vulnerable.”
- “Bro, the flat is gone… I can’t accept this huge nerf.”
- “The new art style feels very generic. It lacks the vulnerability and anguish of the original. Now it’s just ‘anime girl crying’. The proportions in the original felt more natural and fitting. Total downgrade.”
- “This inflation in the boob economy is disgusting, they better increase Moeka’s to compensate.”
- “I kind of think the original looks more homely and vulnerable.”
- “I’m so tired of this, why do Japanese studios keep doing this? Flat-chested characters should stay flat-chested. This is disrespectful. And people calling this an upgrade makes it worse.”
- “The older one somehow looks better and more unique.”

As you can see, many fans argued that the older art style felt more “unique” and better, while others questioned why the design was changed at all.
The funny thing? The same artist is still involved. huke, who was responsible for the original Steins;Gate character designs, has returned for the remake. This is simply a case of an artist’s style evolving over time, while fans claim the older work was more “unique.” It’s literally the same artist.
