The Korean Artist Who Is Terrible at Drawing Cats!
Utto is a Korean artist who draws Yaoi webtoons. A few months ago, she went viral for a rather curious reason: some pages from one of her Yaoi titles made the rounds online because she used photos of a real cat in the story instead of simply drawing one.
A quick note about this post: I don’t know if Utto is actually a woman or a man. Since Utto uses a profile picture of a girl, I will refer to her as a woman. If it turns out that Utto is actually a man, I’ll correct the post.

Hilarious, right? Instead of drawing a cat in the scene above, Utto simply decided to grab photos of a cat from the internet and put them in her work, proving that she is Terrible at Drawing Cats….
After all, if you take these images and search for them on Google, you’ll find several anime websites claiming that this is “A webtoon artist who is terrible at drawing cats and went viral for using photos of a real cat”…
And they even use this tweet from some guy named Berry as if it were the source… anyway, that’s not true.
Utto found out that her manhwa had gone viral and clarified the truth on her profile, but her tweets basically reached no one, and the truth ended up getting lost.
In one tweet, Utto said that the cat who appeared in her webtoon is actually hers:
“The cat that appears in chapter 37 is my housemate.”
And in another tweet, Utto debunked another piece of misinformation. She actually knows how to draw cats:
“The truth is, I draw cats very well.”
Utto often shares several photos of her cat on Twitter.
In the end, this was simply a case of a webtoon author wanting to immortalize her kitty in her work.
