GraPara Ending Spoilers: Fans Are Furious About the Final Chapter
Did Chainsaw Man have a bad ending? Was Oshi no Ko disappointing? Let me tell you something: compared to the GraPara ending, the finales of those manga are true masterpieces of modern literature. What the HELL was this ending?
A little context: I only discovered GraPara because a controversy broke out in Japan. For more than 100 chapters, the protagonist loved and protected the heroine named Sakura, only for her to betray him in the end.
I even made a post about the situation here.
And now the final chapter of GraPara has been released, bringing the manga to an end. But if you haven’t read it, let’s go over a quick summary of the story.
The protagonist is a fan of Gravure Idols. For those who don’t know, Gravure Idols are women who take sensual photos for magazines and other media, and some of them eventually move into the adult entertainment industry.
Our protagonist spends much of the manga protecting Sakura, a rookie Gravure Idol, so she won’t be exploited by various men in the industry.
The two finally start dating. One day, Sakura sees the protagonist being kissed by the girl with glasses. She runs away and ends up spending the night with another guy.
Sakura then breaks up with the protagonist, who ends up getting together with the girl with glasses.
She even confesses her feelings to him.
Up to this point, everyone reading the manga was rooting for the girl with glasses and hoping Sakura would get what was coming to her… and neither of those things happened.
How Was the DISASTROUS GraPara Final Chapter?
In the penultimate chapter, the protagonist, who has become a promising film director, gets a job on a new movie that features an adult scene. The heroine’s role goes to the girl with glasses.
The protagonist didn’t want her to take the role, but during filming, the girl with glasses decides to kiss the other actor in front of the guy she loved!
And then we get a HUGE time skip of several years.
The girl with glasses and the protagonist stopped talking to each other because she decided to get involved with another guy during filming.
Years later, the girl with glasses is walking down the street when she runs into Sakura. The two decide to have a meal together, and during their conversation, the girl with glasses reveals to Sakura that she was the one who forced the kiss on the protagonist and that he never betrayed Sakura!
The protagonist, like a complete CUCKl, spent the entire night running around looking for Sakura. Meanwhile, Sakura was already with the other guy.
The girl with glasses then apologizes to Sakura, explaining that because she loved the protagonist, she didn’t tell her the truth so she could be with him.
But in the end, the girl with glasses didn’t stay with him either.
Time passes, and the protagonist gets another job involving an intimate scene.
And guess who the lead actress is?
Sakura!
His ex who had betrayed him!
The day of filming arrives, and there is the protagonist directing an intimate scene in which Sakura is with another guy.
And IT GETS WORSE. IT GETS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH WORSE!
At one point, the protagonist ASKS FOR THE CAMERA AND STARTS FILMING SAKURA’S INTIMATE SCENE HIMSELF!
The protagonist starts filming his ex, who he apparently still has feelings for, during an intimate scene with another guy.
And IT GETS WORSE.

Because of the first post I made about this manga, I ended up reading the entire series, and there is no other rating I can give this manga besides 1.
Yes, I gave it a 1, and every time I refresh MAL, more and more people are giving it a 1 as well.
