Grapara Chapter 130: “Heroine” Breaks Up with the Protagonist

A few days ago I posted here on the site about the controversy involving the manga Grapara and how both Japanese and international readers were upset because the heroine and the protagonist’s girlfriend cheated on him with another guy. I’m not going to summarize what happened here, so read that post to understand.

Today we’re going to talk about Grapara chapters 130 and 131, because chapter 130 made my blood boil and I don’t even read this manga!

Grapara Chapter 130: “Heroine” Breaks Up with the Protagonist

The chapter begins with the protagonist still worried about Sakura-chan, his girlfriend, who ran off after seeing another girl kissing him, without knowing he had a girlfriend.

He is then filming and working when he receives a message from Sakura saying she “can no longer meet him”.

Sakura then simply leaves (I believe) the agency she was at with her boyfriend and goes to another agency. Meanwhile, the protagonist receives a message from a playboy named Yuma Nakanishi, who wants to meet him to talk about Sakura.

In this meeting, Yuma tells the protagonist to break up with Sakura because she was “cheating first”. What annoys me the most is that the protagonist acts submissive and can barely explain what happened, while that son of a bitch Yuma wants Sakura at all costs and also gives the protagonist very little chance to explain himself.

The playboy Yuma informs the protagonist that Sakura has already signed with another agency and is completely abandoning him, and that she is also sleeping at his house.

The protagonist can’t process all the information: breaking up with Sakura whom he protected all this time, her leaving, her sleeping at another man’s house, her signing with another agency… until Yuma says:

“I had sex with Sakura, from last night until this morning, we had sex.”

Imagine the situation: you spend time protecting a girl, start dating her, and because of a misunderstanding another guy comes and tells you, “I spent the whole night having sex with your girlfriend, break up with her”.

And then the protagonist realizes that while he was running through the city at night looking for his girlfriend, she was in bed with another man.

“Sakura-chan doesn’t want to see you anymore. I’ll make her happy, so will you break up with her?”

And, analyzing the whole situation, the protagonist just says “Ok”, and they break up.

The manga then jumps a few months. Sakura manages to get a role in a TV series, a big role, and starts becoming successful. And the protagonist, how is he?

But this sadness doesn’t last long, because he receives contact from a producer who says the film he produced was a success at its screening and that it has been decided it will be shown nationwide now, and he has also gotten a new job since they want him to work on a new project.

And there’s more: you know the girl with glasses? She confessed to the protagonist!

And those were Grapara chapters 130 and 131, let’s see some reactions:

  • Damn, screw that idiot.

  • She doesn’t look even slightly remorseful.

  • Both Sakura and Fumi are already avoiding any accountability lol.

  • Yeah, after the last chapter and finally realizing who the author is, I really have no hope for a good ending for the protagonist’s story.

  • I honestly hate how they are turning him into the villain. You can’t “cure” stupidity.

  • The protagonist should just move on. That bitch cheated on him twice and took zero responsibility for it, but the moment she sees him kiss another girl, he doesn’t even get a chance to explain. Hell no! Stay with Fumi, go pro, and make Shinzo Abe proud by building your own football team with her.

  • You think they couldn’t make the heroine even worse after the last chapter, and then we get a truckload of it… yeah, great story lol.

  • I was actually glad when they broke up, and the ending was great, I hope he leaves the past behind.

  • Damn, that girl didn’t even meet the protagonist to break up lol. I don’t know this author, but let’s hope the protagonist gets a good ending with the glasses girl. It would be nice if he became big as a director and somehow met Sakura later as an important person.

  • Ok, a few months have passed. From what we can see on the panel, she is still having sex with the “fuckboy” and staying with him. Shinobu is still depressed but trying to move on. Mature enough not to blame Fumi for the breakup.

  • Well, I’m pretty sure now that that sex scene is actually real and Sakura and Shinobu’s life together is over. Now we just have to hope things go well with Fumi and that he develops the same feelings for her, but since it’s Katsura Airi I know not to expect much.

  • I’m here praying Sakura never comes back.
I’m here knowing she probably will come back.
I’m here afraid that this mentally disturbed author will find a way to make the glasses girl get cheated on too.

  • The only way to “fix” this would be something like: Sakura’s career starts to decline after changing agencies, and she receives offers to become an AV actress. She accepts because she is extremely dumb, contracts an STD and can no longer work in AV. Then she finds out Shinobu never cheated on her and deeply regrets everything, while Shinobu is now extremely successful. That will never happen.

All I know is that I got pretty angry reading the scene where the playboy tells the protagonist to break up and says he had been with his girlfriend. I just wanted to punch him and then tell Sakura the truth and break up with her.

Damn, and I don’t even read this manga.
