Fans Had to Figure Out Who Cure Eclair Was in Meitantei Precure

Every year, a new Precure series is released, and the 2026 installment is called Meitantei Precure, with detective Precures as its main theme. The two main characters, Mikuru and Anna, are huge detective fans and end up entering that field themselves. As a result, each episode follows the duo solving cases while fighting villains.

Around episodes 19 or 20, fans following the anime were able to put their detective skills to the test to uncover the identity of the mysterious Cure Eclair.

For those unfamiliar with Precure, each girl receives a new name when she transforms. Mikuru becomes Cure Mystique, Anna becomes Cure Answer, and Luluka becomes Cure Arcana Shadow.

Then a mysterious Cure named Cure Eclair appeared, and four possible candidates emerged as her secret identity.

And here’s the best part: since this year’s Precure theme revolves around detectives, an official poll was opened where fans could vote for which of the four girls they believed was Cure Eclair.

To make this work, Meitantei Precure did something clever: it dedicated four episodes, each focusing on one of the four girls you could vote for. Every episode provided additional clues to help fans put their detective skills to use. The fifth episode would finally reveal the identity of Cure Eclair.

So, did the fans get it right? More than 250,000 votes were cast, and the most voted character was Kurea Howa. Check out the voting results below:

So, were they right? Was Kurea actually Cure Eclair? Yes!

The reveal came in episode 25, which showed that Kurea had lost her memories of being a Precure. However, she eventually remembers everything and transforms once again.

Kurea/Cure Eclair’s voice actress, Hasegawa Ikumi, shared the following about being able to voice a Precure:

“I did audition, but I never imagined I’d actually get to voice a Pretty Cure someday, so I was absolutely floored! Then, the staff immediately told me, ‘You have to keep your role as Cure Éclair a secret from everyone, including your fellow cast members.’ My mind was just a whirlwind of question marks at that moment.

Surprise, joy, confusion—all these emotions swirled together. I spent that whole time trying so hard to resist the urge to spill the beans to my friends and all my supporters. So by the time this message goes public, I’ll probably be excitedly shouting the news from the rooftops!”

Keep in mind that, until then, Kurea and the other three characters included in the poll were only supporting characters and didn’t even appear in every episode. Now, Kurea is part of the main team.
