"Malfoid" existe ao menos desde 2006!

The internet is obsessed with Malfoid, the female version of Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter! The trend has taken social media by storm, with fans creating tons of fan art, animations, and even cosplay of the character.

But this sudden popularity has also sparked a little internet investigation: did anyone imagine Draco as a girl long before 2026? After all, the first Harry Potter movie premiered in 2001, giving fans plenty of time to come up with their own versions of the characters!

And the answer is YES! By digging through the internet’s archives, fans discovered that the idea of a female Draco Malfoy is much older than most people might expect.

Malfoid Fan Art Was Already Around in 2013!

It all started when someone found a 2013 fan art piece depicting a female version of Draco. Back then, though, she wasn’t called Malfoid. The artist used the name fem!draco, along with the description: “If Draco were a girl.”

The art above is pretty cute! But I imagine things didn’t go viral quite as easily in 2013 as they do today. After all, X now has automatic translation, allowing people from all over the world to join in on the same trend.

Still, 2013 wasn’t the first time someone imagined Draco as a girl. The investigation continued, and fans uncovered something even older!

Going back just one more year, fans found a 2012 fan art piece that also featured a female version of the character

Honestly, I’m more of a fan of the 2013 version!

But the search for older artwork didn’t stop there. While digging through DeviantArt, fans came across a 2009 illustration featuring a pretty unexpected combination: a female Draco Malfoy paired with Voldemort!

Yep, it looks like Harry Potter fans were already letting their imaginations run wild back then! Hehe.

And there was still one more piece to uncover before reaching the oldest discovery in this investigation.

The Oldest Malfoid Fan Art Found So Far Dates Back to 2006!

As the search continued, fans discovered that someone had already drawn Draco Malfoy as a girl in 2008.

And now we reach what feels almost like fate: going back 20 years, we find a 2006 fan art piece that is, so far, the oldest one uncovered in this search!

To put that into perspective, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire hit theaters in 2005. That means this fan art appeared in 2006, while fans were waiting for the next movie in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which premiered in 2007.

It’s wild to think that people were already imagining what a female version of Draco Malfoy might look like back then!

Malfoid Has Been Around Much Longer Than You Might Think!

Sure, these older fan art pieces might not have the same visual appeal as many illustrations created today, but that doesn’t make this discovery any less fun.

The 2026 trend may have given Malfoid a new name and a massive boost in popularity, but the idea of turning Draco into a girl had already been circulating among Harry Potter fans for at least two decades.

Just think about it: a character who’s going viral on social media today was already being imagined by fans back when many people were still waiting for the next movies in the series!
