It seems like anime events in the US are getting more and more perverted, huh? In early July, between the 2nd and 5th, Anime Expo 2026 took place, featuring announcements of new anime, games, and other news.

However, according to a post on Twitter, things got pretty wild at the event. A video is circulating showing a man lying on the ground (possibly on the street?) while a cosplayer girl steps on his lower region, with many people around filming and commenting.

From what I’ve seen in online reactions, people did not like it. Here are some comments:

  • Can we get prostitutes out of conventions? Like yeah, back in the day we had more revealing cosplays, but that was it. Cosplayers were still actual fans. Now it’s just people with low-effort cosplay doing weird stuff in public.
  • Remember when anime events were about fans dressing up as their favorite characters? Remember when fans gathered, took photos, and shared what they loved? Those days are gone.
  • I swear everyone born after like 2002 is weird as hell. This kind of stuff is way too normalized now. I’m not against a sexual joke or two, but the amount of people doing this kind of thing in public and filming it is way higher than before.
  • This is so disgusting, I can’t.
  • This is so weird, why can’t people just cosplay and have fun at anime events? Why is there always someone doing sexual stuff in public…
  • Where is the energy, where is the passion, smh.
  • No force in the stomps, WEAK.
  • Are these the people who ruined midnight mahjong lol?
  • This is why people hate anime fans.
  • Yeah, crazy, but not the good kind.
  • Girls always advertise services of stepping on people, but never offer services for me to step on them instead.

  • Probably the same people who used to call anime weird and now do this stuff.
