A VTuber agency made headlines last month after doing something unexpected, the company simply fired two of its VTubers because they fell in love and started dating.

According to the official statement, Rimiresu! said that its no-dating rule is part of its internal guidelines to maintain its image and the trust of fans. After confirming directly with the VTubers involved, the company decided to immediately terminate the activities of both streamers and remove their profiles from all platforms.

The two VTubers are Kanade Ruka and BakuBaku, who were part of the same agency and ended up falling in love and starting a relationship. Their relationship was discovered by the agency, which then decided to terminate both contracts.

Obviously, the backlash was huge. Many pointed out that the VTuber business model in Japan creates strict expectations regarding personal behavior, but it is also worth remembering that VTuber Nimi (formerly Fauna from Hololive) faced heavy criticism when announcing her marriage.

In response, the agency asked fans not to attack or harass those involved.
