Rurutan Reveals She Planned to Take Her Own Life but Became a Millionaire Thanks to AV
Japanese adult influencer Rurutan, who has a large following, revealed that she entered the sex industry with a very different goal than many might expect: paying off a 20 million yen debt to her own parents.
Known professionally as “Rurutan,” she shared her story during a conversation with writer Akira Tachibana published by Nikkan Spa!.
At the time, Rurutan was studying law at university and going through a very difficult period in her life.
According to her, she reached a point where she felt there was no reason to keep living. She therefore decided that she would first repay her parents for all the money they had spent on her education and then take her own life.
That was when she began looking for a quick way to make money.
Entering Kabukicho
Rurutan started working for a “delivery health” service, a type of adult service that is well known in Japan.
At first, however, the job had an unexpected effect on her.
The attention she received from clients made her feel valued, and little by little, her negative thoughts began to fade.
Later, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she ended up working at an establishment in Shinjuku, in the famous Kabukicho district.
It was during this period that her view of the job completely changed.
Instead of focusing only on the attention she received from clients, Rurutan began looking at the industry as a business.
She started analyzing how other women made money and realized that she needed a strategy that would allow her to maximize her earnings for as long as possible.
She Turned Desire Into a Strategy
That was when she developed what she calls “Eros Capital.”
The basic idea is to turn attraction and desire into a kind of economic resource.
Instead of trying to get as much money as possible from each client at once, Rurutan began thinking about long-term relationships.
Writer Akira Tachibana even compared her strategy to that of Las Vegas casinos: the goal is not necessarily to make someone lose everything in one night, but to maintain a steady source of revenue over a long period of time.
The strategy apparently worked.
Social Media Helped Her Career Grow Even Further
Rurutan also realized that she could use social media to expand her reach. She encouraged former clients to interact with her profile on X, increasing engagement with her content. As a result, the algorithm began recommending her profile to more people.
Her follower count quickly surpassed 10,000, giving her even more leverage to negotiate her share of the earnings with the establishments where she worked.
Today, Rurutan has more than 1.3 million followers and has built a much more profitable career than she ever imagined when she started. Interestingly, she says that simply becoming rich was never her main goal.
Rurutan says she always enjoyed getting good grades and ranking among the top students on practice exams. For her, money eventually became another way to measure her performance.
She says she did not necessarily need to reach 100 million yen. What she wanted was to prove to herself that she could earn that amount.
