A mother went viral after complaining that a science manga she intended to have her son read contains many provocative scenes involving women. The manga in question is called Hell Doctor Kurare no Kagaku wa Subete wo Kaiketsu Suru and has been published since 2018.

The manga is created by Yuuji Kamo in partnership with Kurare, who also helped supervise the “science” aspects of the Dr. Stone manga.

Hell Doctor Kurare no Kagaku wa Subete wo Kaiketsu Suru! is a comedy and science educational manga that mixes absurd situations with real scientific explanations. The story follows Kurare, a mad scientist who believes that “science can solve everything.”

The manga has the concept of: “What if a mad scientist tried to solve any everyday situation using science?” It teaches scientific concepts while making jokes, being closer to an educational comedy manga than a traditional adventure.

The tweet that became a topic online, with several parents complaining about heavy content that can easily be seen by children, was this:

mae manga de ciencia com ecchi

“At the manga and light novel floor of a certain museum, I saw the cover and thought: ‘Would this be good for my son who likes science?’ I picked up the book and started flipping through it, but when I saw the contents, it was this…

Elementary school children read this, right…?

It is really exhausting that parents always have to check the content of Japanese TV programs and manga before giving something to their children. Seriously, I wish something could be done about this.”

Below are some pictures of the manga that this mother took:

Other parents also commented on this mother’s post, agreeing with her, while others said there are even worse examples of children’s manga that contain ecchi elements.

Let’s see how Japanese manga fans reacted:

  • “Hmm, I thought it would be another Dr. Stone, but it was completely different lol. But it says the author of Dr. Stone recommends it, so I found that funny lol.”
  • “This is simply disgusting.”
  • “I think the content is disgusting, but parents who want to censor everything their children read are also kind of problematic.”
  • “For an elementary school child, this is really too much.”
  • “It’s been a long time since I saw a post about this kind of topic that actually had a valid point.”
  • “If it’s a fifth grader, maybe it’s okay. But if a first grader picks this up, it would be terrible.”
  • “Jump is kind of a problematic publication for children, isn’t it?”
  • “Actually, how are they going to adapt that masturbation scene from Chainsaw Man into the anime?”
  • “Shoujo manga probably shows sex much faster.”
  • “There was a house near where I lived that always threw away adult female manga magazines, so I collected them every week.”
  • “The author of this is a YouTuber, right?”
  • “That’s why the Doraemon educational series is the safe choice.”
  • “Indeed, this shouldn’t be there.”
  • “The more you repress a child and force them to be pure, the more it seems they might end up becoming strange when they start growing up.”
  • “I thought it would just be a small panty shot or something, but it was actually genuinely erotic.”

What do you think about the situation?
