Heikosekai no Jibun or “I’m in a RomCom with myself, but this other version of me is a girl!”

I just discovered another light novel with a really interesting plot hehe. It’s called Heikosekai no Jibun ga Konomi no Bishojo de Heki mo Onaji datta node Koishiteshimatta (let’s just call it Heikosekai no Jibun). What would you do if you met your own version from a parallel universe, and what if that version was the opposite sex?
That’s exactly what happens in Heikosekai no Jibun! The novel is written by Tamazo Yanagi, a screenwriter who has worked on anime such as Momentary Lily, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses, The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again, and W’z.
Heikosekai no Jibun or “I’m in a RomCom with myself, but this other version of me is a girl!”
The story follows Asahi, a boy with a somewhat unusual taste: he likes bad endings.

One day, while at a movie theater, he meets Tsukino, a beautiful girl who also likes bad endings and, to make things even crazier, she is exactly his type. The two quickly realize they have a lot in common and become close.
But things get weird when they both head home.
They arrive at Asahi’s house and discover that, somehow, Tsukino now lives with him.
The strangest part is that this situation didn’t exist that same morning. And Tsukino herself has no idea how it happened either.

After looking into the situation, the two reach an absurd conclusion: Tsukino is the same person as Asahi, but from a parallel universe, and somehow ended up in his world (normal).
From there, Asahi decides to help her find a way back to her original universe. However, there’s one small problem
Tsukino is exactly Asahi’s type.
And the feeling is mutual! Asahi is exactly the type of guy Tsukino likes.
Since the two have extremely similar tastes and personalities, they can’t help but feel attracted to each other. In other words, the protagonist basically met a female version of himself from another universe and fell in love with her.

This means the two have an almost perfect understanding of each other, since they share the same tastes and even some of the same quirks!
Other characters include Jun Hikawa, Asahi’s best friend who likes happy endings, and Nanaha, the president of the literature club who is extremely competitive when it comes to writing.
While they try to figure out how to send Tsukino back to her world, the two have to deal with living together while also beginning to develop feelings for each other.
The light novel is illustrated by Yuki Fuyuno.
