100 Girlfriends Filled the Dance Episode with Memes and Months of Dedication

100 Girlfriends included three famous memes in its latest episode (which I haven’t watched), where the girlfriends practiced dancing for a stage performance (I haven’t watched it, but it’s pretty easy to guess what happened).

The anime’s Chief Animation Director revealed on Twitter that the staff spent several months working on the episode, using around 15,000 keyframes. Although 3D was used as the basis for the outlines, almost the entire performance scene was hand-drawn.

According to other staff members, the studio worked tirelessly for months, with the lights in the CG department constantly on because of the effort put into the production.

Honestly, this turned out really well. It’s amazing to see how much love 100 Girlfriends is receiving from the anime staff, because the level of dedication has been incredible.
