Japanese Teacher Suspended Over Adult Video Appearance Wants to Return to School
A Japanese teacher in his 40s was suspended after appearing in an adult video filmed in 2023, but he now wants to return to his teaching position at a public school in Saga Prefecture, Japan. The case has attracted attention mainly because of how authorities classified his participation: not as a second job, but as an unpaid activity.
Teacher Suspended After Appearing in Adult Video
According to Japanese media outlets, including FNN and the Yomiuri Shimbun, the teacher reportedly took part in the filming in July 2023, after being approached by someone operating a paid-access website whom he had met through social media.
The video was eventually published online. However, according to the account presented during the investigation, the teacher received no money for his participation, nor was he reimbursed for travel expenses or any other costs.
The teacher’s own explanation was that he had participated out of curiosity.
The incident only came to light in August 2026, when an anonymous tip was sent to the school where he worked. Both the school and the Saga Prefectural Board of Education reportedly reviewed the footage to confirm that the employee had indeed appeared in the recording.
The video was subsequently removed.
A Suspension Lasting Just One Month
Despite the controversy and concerns about public trust in government employees, the teacher received a one-month suspension.
In a statement released by authorities, he acknowledged that his decision demonstrated poor ethical judgment and admitted that he had damaged public trust.
Now, he intends to continue working as a teacher once his suspension ends.
What Will Happen When He Returns to School?
This is precisely the part of the situation that has yet to be fully resolved.
During a press conference held on October 22, representatives of the Saga Board of Education apologized for the incident. The school principal and the board are expected to discuss what responsibilities the teacher will have when he returns to his position.
This includes evaluating how his return could affect the school environment and his relationships with students, parents, and other staff members.
