I think everyone has their own reasons for starting a job that involves wearing very little clothing, right? And Fujiwara Chino became a gravure idol to pay for her mother’s dental treatment. According to her, the situation worsened over time, causing her mother to lose a total of 11 teeth, although the exact cause has never been discovered.

In an interview with Entame Next, Chino said that she had previously worked as an idol but spent about three years away from the entertainment industry during the pandemic, supporting herself through ordinary jobs. When she returned to artistic activities, she decided to take on gravure work specifically to increase her income.

According to Fujiwara Chino, she was initially reluctant to pose in swimsuits and do gravure work. Before that, she only participated in photo sessions while wearing regular clothes.

However, when she realized she could help pay for her mother’s treatment, she decided to overcome that discomfort. She explained that releasing DVDs and participating in photo sessions increases her visibility and, consequently, the number of fans and work opportunities.

The artist herself even commented that she might never have chosen this path if her mother’s dental problems had never happened.

Her Family’s Reaction Was Unexpected

Another interesting detail revealed by Chino is that her father still does not know that she works as a gravure idol.

Her mother only found out when she was about to release a DVD through the artist’s brother. Her initial reaction was one of anger, but after Chino explained her reasons, she came to understand the situation and now supports her.

Even so, the model admits that she is still worried about the possibility of her father discovering the nature of her work.

From Waitress to Artist

Before making her way into the entertainment industry, Fujiwara Chino worked at several jobs, including restaurants, a bread factory, and other establishments.

She recalled an unusual incident in which she accidentally poured an entire bowl of ramen over a customer while working. Curiously, she said she did not even panic at the time, which made her realize that she might actually have the courage to face bigger challenges.

Later, she moved to Tokyo, where she was invited to join an idol group. After spending time in groups and later pursuing solo activities, the pandemic arrived and interrupted her career for several years.

It was after that period that Fujiwara Chino became a gravure idol to pay for her mother’s dental treatment, a decision that, in her own words, was driven far more by family reasons than by a personal dream.
