In 2016, an anime called New Game premiered. The story was about a rookie girl named Aoba who started working at a game development company. The series received two seasons and one OVA, while the manga was published between 2013 and 2021 and ended with 13 volumes.

One of the main characters is Yun Iijima, who becomes one of Aoba’s closest friends, and she is voiced by Takeo Ayumi, who never had many voice acting roles, with Yun being her biggest character.

It turns out that in December 2021 she announced that she was retiring from the voice acting industry and left her agency, and do you know what has happened since then? Fans blame her for New Game not receiving a new season.

On May 16, Ayumi Takeo made the following tweet:

“To the people in charge at KADOKAWA,
Houbunsha,
and Doga Kobo,

It has already been 5 years since I retired from voice acting, but even now I keep receiving many DMs saying that it is my fault that NEW GAME! does not have a 3rd season.

So please, it is about time for a 3rd season of NEW GAME!.

And I would be happy if I could continue playing the role of Yun Iijima.

I hope my feelings reach all of you.”

According to what she said, “fans” of the series believe that New Game has not returned because she retired, and so the anime staff does not want to replace her in the role of Yun. They do not understand that there may be other reasons behind it, and it is sad to know that she receives hateful comments.
