The creator of Ajin, Gamon Sakurai, known for his work on Ajin: Demi-Human, denied being a specialist or fanatic when it comes to military topics. According to him, before he began drawing the series, he did not even know what an M4 rifle was. Although he enjoys American action movies, he stated that he had no technical knowledge about firearms.

The statement surprised many readers, since Ajin features numerous scenes involving guns, tactical gear, and highly detailed combat sequences. In response to the discussion, he explained that the secret lies not in personal experience, but in intensive research.

In one arc involving tactical operations, he revealed that he invested over one million yen solely in gathering information and materials to ensure visual accuracy. For him, the quality of the final result is directly tied to the budget and the time dedicated to research.
