The Neon Genesis Evangelion composer, Shiro Sagisu, returned to the spotlight after revealing that he earns extremely high royalties from the music he has produced throughout his career. According to Sagisu, just 10 million yen already amounts to around 65,000 USD. He shared the news from his mansion, a 260-year-old property located in Paris that once belonged to a finance minister from the Louis XVI era. The residence underwent renovations valued at over 300,000 USD.

The Neon Genesis Evangelion composer also owns nine other properties: five in France, three in Tokyo, and one in the United Kingdom, highlighting his significant financial success and recognition inside and outside Japan.
Shiro Sagisu is one of the most important names in Japanese music, especially for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion, considered one of the most iconic anime soundtracks in history. His compositions helped define the dense and emotional atmosphere of the series, contributing to its cultural impact.
In addition to Evangelion, Sagisu also composed for other popular titles such as Bleach, Black Bullet, SSSS.Gridman, and SSSS.Dynazenon. In film, he worked on major productions, including Musa, Shin Godzilla, and the live-action adaptation of Attack on Titan.

The revelation about his high earnings drew public attention, especially when contrasted with reports that many musicians and composers who work in Japanese productions struggle to receive recognition or adequate compensation. Sagisu, however, stood out over the decades and cemented his name as one of the most influential figures in the industry.
