A new rhythm game called HYPNOSYNC has been announced. It is set to launch on Steam (if Visa and MasterCard allow it) in 2026, but before that, the game is already facing controversy, with many people calling for its censorship and ban from the platform.

Why are people asking for HYPNOSYNC to be canceled?

HYPNOSYNC is a game developed by the indie studio Based Kick, and its description reads as follows:

RHYTHM X HYPNOSIS: You are forced to become the manager of a new music arcade. With your newly discovered ability to hypnotize others, you must hypnotize your female customers to turn them into employees who can’t think for themselves.

The PV on Twitter reached 2.6 million views, and the developer’s account closed the comment section due to negative reactions. Although the game doesn’t appear to contain any explicit content (at least based on the PVs), many people saw issues with the girls seemingly looking underage and with the fact that you hypnotize them.

Many consider hypnosis to be a form of r*** and believe it should not be allowed in any kind of media.

Among many others, along with images and memes. However, there are also people defending the game, which made its popularity skyrocket. Still, it remains to be seen whether the game will stay on Steam given the situation involving Visa and MasterCard.
