An unexpected incident involving Shirakami Fubuki, a VTuber from Hololive, caused concern among players on the agency’s shared ARK: Survival Evolved server. All tamed dinosaurs that weren’t stored in Cryopods disappeared, forcing everyone to stop playing while the team worked to recover the lost data.

If you don’t follow Hololive VTubers, many of them enjoy playing ARK: Survival Evolved together on a shared server where they can interact and play with one another.

And apparently, Fubuki ended up wiping out the server’s dinosaurs!

Shirakami Fubuki Reportedly Used AI and Wiped Out ARK’s Dinosaurs

According to reports, the incident began when Fubuki encountered a bug that caused the items she was carrying to disappear. While looking for a solution, the VTuber reportedly consulted an AI-powered search tool, which suggested using the administrative command /DestroyAllEnemies.

The problem was that this wasn’t the command she needed. Instead of fixing the issue, it reportedly eliminated the animals on the map, causing a massive headache for the other players on the server.

And we’re not talking about just a handful of missing dinosaurs! More than a dozen Hololive VTubers had been playing on the server and spending weeks taming creatures. Imagine spending all that time building your base and raising dinosaurs, only to find out they’ve all disappeared because someone asked the wrong AI for help!

Fubuki Announces That the Dinosaurs Have Disappeared

In her first social media announcement, Shirakami Fubuki explained that all tamed dinosaurs that weren’t stored in Cryopods had disappeared from the server.

Since the incident happened in the middle of the night, the team responsible for managing the server wouldn’t be able to respond immediately. Fubuki therefore asked everyone to wait for further updates and stop their activities on the server.

At first, it was unclear how much of the lost progress could be recovered. After all, when an administrative command sends all your dinosaurs to the afterlife, you can’t exactly call a veterinarian and expect everything to return to normal!

Hololive Restores the Server With a Rollback

Fortunately, the story didn’t end with a permanent extinction event. In a second announcement, Fubuki confirmed that the issue had been resolved and explained that the team had restored the data using a server backup.

The solution was to perform a rollback, a procedure that returns a server to an earlier state. This made it possible to recover the saved data from before the disaster, although the announcements didn’t specify whether any progress was lost after the restoration.

Fubuki also stated that the talents had been informed about what happened and that an apology had been issued.

For those unfamiliar with it, ARK: Survival Ascended is a survival game where players explore a world filled with creatures, build bases, and tame dinosaurs. Since making progress can take dozens of hours, losing tamed creatures on a shared server can be a major problem for everyone involved.

In the end, the backup turned out to be the real hero of this story. As for the AI, if it really did recommend the command mentioned in the reports, it probably won’t be invited to look after Hololive’s dinosaurs anytime soon!
