Japanese Fans Are Dropping Yani Neko for Being Too Gross

Yani Neko premiered this week and became one of the most talked-about anime on the internet. A lot of people said the anime surprised them because it apparently didn’t censor the manga.

However, many people have also decided to drop Yani Neko.

The reason? They simply felt “disgusted.”

Yani Neko is an anime that doesn’t hide the worst side of its characters, which ends up showing some very… intimate scenes.

A Japanese user’s tweet encouraged several other otaku to share that, although they had nothing against the anime, they decided to drop it because it simply wasn’t their kind of series.

“Dropped Anime: Yani Neko (Episode 1 – First Half)

The animation quality was excellent, especially the attention to depicting all the filth, but the disgust I felt was greater than the enjoyment.

So I’m stopping here…”

I actually share his opinion. Yani Neko looks fantastic and is very well made, but it’s just not my type of anime, so I can’t watch it. Still, I have nothing against it.

Let’s see how other Japanese fans reacted?

  • And the worst part is that it gets even more disgusting from here on. Seriously, once it got colors and animation, it became WAY more unpleasant…
  • And that’s exactly why it became absolutely hilarious. But yeah… it’s extremely disgusting.
  • It’s not even about whether it’s funny or not. It’s simply way too filthy.
  • I can’t stomach Yani Neko either. Seriously, what kind of audience was this anime even made for?
  • Yani Neko is so filthy that if you don’t get used to it by reading the manga first, you’ll want to block it immediately. And the manga is pretty intense too…
  • Exactly. Nobody did anything wrong. There really wasn’t much that could have been done.
  • Actually, maybe Yani Neko would have worked better with a lower budget and simpler animation.
  • Honestly… maybe I’m the weird one because I laughed my head off throughout the first episode. While watching it, and even after it ended, I kept thinking: “How on earth did they manage to air this on TV?”

  • Since Yani Neko already scares away a lot of people right from the beginning, I think critics will complain less about the later episodes than they usually do with other anime.
  • I haven’t watched it yet, but I feel like adapting something like this into an anime must have been incredibly difficult lol.
  • But you watched it even though you already knew what kind of series it was and that everyone was talking about it? There’s not much you can do. It’s simply a series that isn’t for everyone.
  • The same thing happened with Jimoto Saikou!.
  • I also felt more disgust than enjoyment, so I ended up dropping it halfway through. The direction and animation are incredibly well done, so for fans, this anime adaptation must be amazing without a doubt…
  • Yani Neko is basically a series full of crude humor and filth. Most of the characters only do deplorable things, so anyone who doesn’t enjoy this kind of content probably won’t like the series from beginning to end.

Well, as I mentioned, I have absolutely NOTHING against Yani Neko or anyone who’s going to watch it, but it’s simply not my type of anime.
