Will There Be an Incest Marriage in Mahouka?
Personally, Mahouka is a series that I have only watched up to its second season. I still haven’t watched the third season or the movie, so I don’t really know what is currently happening in the story (but I plan to return and catch up before the new anime airs). That’s why you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that Tatsuya and Miyuki apparently might get married in the light novel!
It was officially confirmed that Mahouka Volume 12 will be released in Japan on September 10. Along with the release date announcement, the official cover immediately caught fans’ attention by showing Tatsuya Shiba wearing an elegant tuxedo and Miyuki Shiba wearing a beautiful wedding dress.

The image quickly created several theories among fans, with many believing that the long-awaited marriage between Tatsuya and Miyuki could finally be approaching.
The official announcement brought a very mysterious message about the future of the protagonists:
“Tatsuya, who was once called the ‘Irregular’, and Miyuki, the perfect ‘Honor Student’. As the two finally fulfill their ‘someday’ promise, their story will move toward its final chapter.”
The statement increased fans’ expectations even more, especially because the relationship between Tatsuya and Miyuki has always been one of the central elements of Mahouka. Check out the cover below:
Even though an incest marriage is a controversial topic for some people, readers who have followed the story for years believe this development could be a fitting conclusion to the journey of these two characters.
Since the beginning of the franchise, Miyuki has always had a strong connection with Tatsuya, while he has dedicated much of his life to protecting her and ensuring her happiness.
Because of this, many fans believe that Tatsuya and Miyuki’s marriage would be the perfect moment to close this long chapter of the story.
What surprised me the most was seeing that the cover art reveal received 11 million views and created many questions among fans. I found two comments in particular that explain the situation better and also answered my own doubts.
A Japanese fan asked:
“Sorry, could someone tell me? If the official Tatsumi (Tatsuya and Miyuki) marriage is really confirmed, I was thinking about reading the entire original novel at once. Is this actually true? Is it not the typical ‘pretend marriage’ you often see in light novels, but a real marriage?”
And the best answer they received was this. Keep in mind that these are spoilers (but I was curious too, as I mentioned, I stopped at the second season and don’t follow the light novel):
“The two have been engaged since the beginning of the story, and officially, according to documents, Tatsuya is Maya’s son, which means they would be considered cousins. However, because Miyuki underwent genetic modification, they do not actually share genes and can have children. Additionally, the two had already promised to marry after graduating from university.”
Even so, can we still consider this incest? Even if she went through this genetic modification?
I’m honestly surprised to see a theme like incest in Mahouka, because this is a much more serious story, you know? I’m going to go back and watch it to better understand everything that happened.
