Cosplayer Revela que foi Vitima de Chikan pela Primeira vez na Vida

Meguru the cosplayer shared on her profile that, for the first time in her life, she became a victim of chikan. She explained how she reacted and how the man who harassed her responded. But first, what is chikan?

In Japan, the term chikan (痴漢) is used to refer to people who commit acts of physical harassment against others in public places, especially in crowded environments such as trains, subways, and stations during rush hours.

Basically, it is when someone starts touching you in a public place, and Meguru revealed that this happened to her for the first time.

According to the cosplayer, who made the post on June 20, she said: “For the first time in my life, I became a victim of a chikan, but I was thinking: ‘Is this guy seriously doing this? lol,’ and I ended up blurting out a loud ‘WOW LOL.’ The guy heard it and ran away.”

Her tweet generated many reactions from Japanese users. One man, for example, shared a story from when he was in elementary school. A man started touching him, and he said, “What is this?” The criminal simply replied not to worry about it and then walked away.

Let’s take a look at the Japanese reactions?

  • He probably thought, “This girl must be some dangerous crazy person, I’m going to get killed!” and felt his life was in danger.
  • Good thing it wasn’t an “Ohoooh~ lol”!
  • Maybe he mistook you for a middle-aged man dressed as a woman…?
  • This is way too funny.
  • So sarcasm can even overcome a chikan!?
  • It’s not something to laugh about, but I laughed lol.
  • I know I shouldn’t laugh, but when I imagined the situation, I ended up laughing (sorry). It’s a shame the culprit managed to escape…
  • That was such a middle-aged man reaction lol.
  • The magic phrase to scare away a chikan: “Wow! lol”
  • You live in a big city and this was your first time…?

Was her reaction really that unexpected? I mean, someone starts touching you on a train and your reaction is to say “WOW” and start laughing? Well, at least it scared the criminal away.
