Emotional: Author Receives Deceased Friend’s Model Collection as His Final Wish

What would you do if a deceased friend left their entire model collection to you? That is exactly what happened to Japanese light novel author Naki, who received an unexpected package from the wife of a friend who had passed away from cancer.

According to a story shared by Naki on X, his friend had left instructions before his death: if anything happened to him, his collection was to be sent to Naki.

The story ended up touching Japanese internet users, especially because of the friendship between the two and the humorous way Naki reacted to the situation.

The friend’s wife contacted Naki and explained that her husband had asked for several boxes to be delivered to him if he could no longer take care of them.

Naki, however, asked her to check the contents first. Joking about the situation, he even said that he hoped there wouldn’t be any adult magazines inside the boxes.

A few days later, the package arrived. Along with the model collection, there was a handwritten letter from his friend.

The message explained, in a lighthearted tone, that it was already too late for him and that Naki would now have to take care of the rest, since he obviously couldn’t take those things with him to the afterlife.

Naki’s Response

When he opened the boxes, Naki was caught between emotion and despair. He remembered that he had already told his friend that he had no room for more things and that his partner probably wouldn’t be very happy about this new responsibility.

Even so, he imagined his friend watching everything from somewhere and laughing at the situation.

Naki also revealed that this was the fourth friend he had lost to cancer. He had always imagined that he would only start losing friends when everyone reached their 60s, but reality turned out to be very different.

The story attracted attention precisely because the model collection became a kind of final gift between the two friends.

Beyond the emotional side of the story, many hobby fans could also relate to the situation. After all, collections can grow for decades and eventually become a problem for family members when their owner is no longer around.
