VTuber Essie Announces End of Her Team Support After Threats and Insults

Argentina has just come from behind to defeat England 2-1 in the 2026 World Cup, and do you know who was cheering for England? Yes, VTuber Essie, who became known for seemingly placing a curse on every national team she supported.

As we previously reported here, every national team Essie supported ended up losing their matches. There was only one single game where Essie got to see the team she supported win, which was when France defeated Morocco.

Aside from that match, every other team she supported lost, and today, following England’s defeat, she said she will no longer announce which team she’s cheering for. The reason? She’s been receiving threats and aggressive comments.

Essie, who had announced her support for England, said that every national team she chose to support in each match was from the bottom of her heart and not because she wanted those teams to lose. In fact, when Argentina played against Egypt, she supported Egypt.

After the match ended, she said:

In a post on one of her alternate accounts, Essie revealed that she has been receiving threats and abusive emails through her business email address. She ended up removing it from her bio because people were flooding her inbox. Based on the screenshot of the notifications she shared, people were calling her a “bitch,” blaming her for the result, and telling her to “go f**k yourself.”

Because of this, she announced that she will not publicly support any team in the final, partly to protect herself in case someone actually believes she has magical powers and is cursing national teams, then decides to find out where she lives to attack her—or worse.

Some people simply can’t understand that it’s just a joke…
