Illustrator shocked that revealing she is a woman got more reach than her artwork

What is your reaction when you find out that an artist you’ve followed for a long time is actually a woman? This happened with illustrator Araki Layer, who commented that it had a huge impact on the likes and reach of her artwork.
Illustrator shocked that revealing she is a woman got more reach than her artwork
It all started when Araki Layer casually revealed she was a woman by posting a tweet on April 30, saying that since childhood she loved monsters, and that even when she received gifts aimed at girls, she became attached to “girls who look normal but are actually monsters.”
Because of this, people were like, “Wait… Araki Layer is a WOMAN?” After all, she draws things like this:

In another tweet, after seeing the massive reaction, she confirmed: “Yes, I am a woman. That’s why I try to draw female characters that look cool from the perspective of other women.” But then she realized that talking about being a woman was getting much more reach than her illustrations!
She said:
“WHY THE HELL is a post just talking about my gender getting more reach than my drawings????????”

However, she took advantage of the viral moment to introduce herself and also her “fetish.” “Nice to meet you, I’m drawing a manga about girls who use suitcases to transform into mech-beasts.”
In her final message, Araki Layer said it is totally possible to identify whether an artist is male or female just from their art, and that you can understand someone’s personality through stories.
She also mentioned she is in her 30s! Pretty interesting, right? You can follow her here.
