VTuber Mikeneko debuts as a Novelist With an Original Story

VTuber Mikeneko has officially made her debut as a writer. The announcement took place during a special birthday broadcast, when the creator held a 3D live stream and used the moment to share the news that had been secretly prepared for quite some time.

Mikeneko (formerly Rushia from Hololive) revealed that she has always had an interest in storytelling and that this project marks the beginning of a new phase in her creative career. According to her, the decision to debut as an author was not sudden, as the work had been in development behind the scenes for several months.

Her first novel follows a young girl who was born with the ability to hear the voices of the dead and touch their souls. Far from being a blessing, this special power caused her to live a life marked by loneliness and isolation from other people.

The narrative shifts when the protagonist meets the son of an important royal chancellor. The two fall in love and eventually become engaged, giving her hope that she might finally live a normal life. However, strange incidents begin to spread throughout the capital, accompanied by whispers from the dead and unsettling signs connected to her future husband. Gradually, the story leads the heroine down a dark path where trust, betrayal, and despair intertwine.

According to Mikeneko, this is not a standalone project. She stated that she intends to continue writing other stories in the future, exploring different genres and themes. The novel has already begun serialization on the Teller Novel platform.

In addition to the novel’s launch, another highlight was the confirmation that the work already has plans for a manga adaptation, which is scheduled to debut later this year.

This is not the first time a VTuber has become a writer. The light novel Jingai Kyoushitsu no Ningengirai Kyoushi, which currently has an anime adaptation airing, is written by VTuber Kurusu Natsume.
