Among the many reasons to argue online, debating the color of Makima panties was not on my bingo card. In March of this year, the artist Isuke created a fanart of Makima—one of the most popular characters in Chainsaw Man—showing her pulling down her pants so that her underwear is visible.
It’s a ribbon-tied white panty with pink details, and the post reached over 1.7 million views on Twitter.
Naturally, it was reposted by many accounts and more recently by another profile (which didn’t credit Isuke), but this time it sparked an online fight over the color of Makima panties.

The new post was made on September 19, just a few days ago. And if you think this debate started among Western fans, think again—the people arguing about what color panties Makima would wear are Japanese fans! Here are some of their reactions:

Well, it turns out that in the official Chainsaw Man manga we actually see Makima wearing white-and-pink panties with a bow, very similar to the fanart Isuke created.
Some might argue that the scene above, even though it’s official from the Chainsaw Man manga, was just Denji’s imagination—and that’s fine—but it doesn’t change the fact that we have an official artwork of her wearing panties like that.
First it was Makima’s butt causing a stir, and now they’re arguing about her underwear too…
