My Dress Up Darling Censorship Sparks Online War

The latest censorship in My Dress Up Darling has sparked a veritable war. Let’s face it, the My Dress Up Darling anime, despite its cosplay and romance themes and an extremely cute heroine like Marin, isn’t exactly a children’s anime. The girl dresses quite sensually at times. Even with a high level of ecchi, the anime doesn’t show everything.
For example (I haven’t seen the episode in question yet), the anime doesn’t show Marin’s bare breasts, something the manga does. And a recent tweet complaining about the censorship (or just trying to generate engagement to make money) went viral.
You can see the post below, showing the scene in question where Marin’s entire body isn’t shown.

For comparison, it’s like this in the manga:

So, as you can see, while the manga showed it, the anime didn’t, and the tweet reads: “They censored My Dress Up Darling, but in the manga, the nipples were shown.”
The tweet reached a lot of people and prompted several reactions, such as:
- “Can I say that kids watch anime and they can’t see this?” Along with the commenter, My Dress Up Darling isn’t for kids.
- “She’s 15.”
- “Who cares, and why do you want to see a 15-year-old girl’s nipples?”
- “This is a grown man complaining about the censorship of a 15-year-old girl. Please, someone explain to me why the anime community is like this?”
- “Imagine getting upset because you can’t see a 15-year-old girl’s breasts.”
- “So what? Seriously, so what?”
- “The guy who gets upset when he can’t see a 16-year-old girl’s breasts.”
- “Nobody cares, you loser, it’s a fictional animated woman, what are you? 12?”
- “She’s 15.”
- “Can I say that kids watch anime and they don’t need to see this?”
Others also expressed their disapproval of the censorship.
- “Man, I hadn’t noticed because of the extremely sensual panties.”
- “I think this censorship is pointless if the manga isn’t censored.”
- “A consequence of having normies as the mainstream audience.”
- “Ugh… censorship was bound to happen eventually since all the normies and “professionals” suddenly decided that “anime is cool now, but only IF we like it.”
- “This is the first time I’ve seen news about this anime being censored.”
- “It’s a seinen, I don’t know why it’s censored.”
- “Maybe I’m old or something, but breasts aren’t offensive or pornographic.”
- “This anime isn’t even for kids.”
- “It’ll probably be restored on Blu-ray.”
What do you think of this discussion? But what they said at the end could very well happen (probably), about the anime not being censored on Blu-ray, remembering that in the first season, the My Dress Up Darling Blu-ray added more ecchi scenes.
