I have no idea whether today’s Strange Japan story is real. It was shared on Twitter, and the author of the tweet claims to have seen it elsewhere. The post has not received a Community Note, yet it has already surpassed 15 million views and gathered countless comments.

So I’m sharing it here, but keep in mind that there is no confirmation that this story is true. Even the profile that posted it does not guarantee its authenticity.

The story is about a woman who worked at an Oppabu, short for “oppai pub,” which refers to a type of hostess bar in Japan where customers are allowed to touch the breasts of the staff.

She went to work one day, and her first client arrived. The man began groping her breasts. What initially seemed to bring him pleasure quickly turned into something completely different.

The woman noticed that the man’s expression suddenly changed. He dropped the lecherous look and became completely serious, stopping what he was doing.

He then took a business card out of his pocket and handed it to her — he was a doctor. After giving her the card, he said, “Please seek medical attention as soon as possible,” and decided to leave.

A few days later, out of curiosity, the woman went to see the doctor. Not knowing what to expect, she underwent several tests — and they discovered she had breast cancer.

She then had to undergo surgery to treat the cancer, and that’s where our story ends. If I had to guess, she likely recovered well.
