Data published by MoguLive reveals that around 86% of respondents have already experienced seeing a VTuber they followed graduate or retire. More than half said they had gone through it multiple times, indicating that Vtuber Graduation has become a recurring phenomenon within the community.

Among the most frequently mentioned names are talents linked to major agencies such as Hololive and Nijisanji, reinforcing that departures from well-established companies generate strong reactions. Many reports describe feelings of sadness, emptiness, and even despair, especially when daily livestreams were part of a fan’s routine.
When asked what is most shocking about a Vtuber Graduation, most respondents pointed to the end of regular livestreams. For 43% of participants, losing that almost daily connection weighs more than the absence of live events or merchandise. The deletion of old videos and social media accounts also appears as a painful factor, as it erases records of the character’s journey.

Another key issue involves the reasons behind these departures. Work overload and excessive pressure were cited as the most serious problems, followed by online harassment and attacks on social media. There is a perception that the current market structure may be pushing creators beyond healthy limits.
The survey also shows that many fans prefer announcements made in advance and explanations delivered directly by the VTuber. Transparency and time to say goodbye help make Vtuber Graduation less traumatic. Even so, nearly 9% believe that no form of announcement feels truly satisfactory.
Even after a graduation, 62% of respondents say they continue watching other VTubers, indicating that the audience remains within the ecosystem. When a creator returns under a different identity, some prefer to support it as a new chapter, while others choose to keep their distance.
