This is the Student Council President’s Room

When I think about it, I can only imagine two types of personalities for student council presidents in anime—if it’s a girl, of course. It’s usually one of two: either she’s a model student with top grades who’s completely elegant in her personal life, or… she’s an otaku.

Am I forgetting some anime that shows us other types of student council presidents? Probably—and you can leave them in the comments—but honestly, those are the only personalities that come to mind. Which brings us to today’s topic, where a girl shared a picture of her room.

Known as SChan on social media and still a student herself, she shared the photo below showing how her room has been completely taken over by all things PreCure.

In a Twitter post, our mega PreCure fan SChan said:

“Question: Can you even study in this room?
Answer: I was the student council president and only ever got straight A’s.”

Her post exploded with over 20 million views and countless questions, since the comparison with stereotypical anime student council presidents is so strong.

Someone asked SChan if there really are student council presidents who seem super serious at school but are total otaku in private. She replied that she was actually pretty clumsy at school—she just studied properly and got good grades.

On her Twitter profile, SChan often shares pictures of her PreCure collection and sometimes of herself (without showing her face). She said she wants to make friends regardless of gender or age.

Comments from fans included things like:

  • “Studying surrounded by the things you love and still getting great results… isn’t that genius? Totally different from someone who only talks (like me)…”

  • “She’s a real-life Precure.”

  • “If you have your own room and live in a supportive environment without abuse, of course you can study better than most.”

  • “This room is just too cute.”
