According to South Korean outlet The Bell, Netmarble injected about 2 billion won (approximately USD 1.45 million) into the anime’s production committee. With this move, the company secured a 20% stake in the project.

The production committee, which manages the adaptation based on D&C Media’s work, already included major players such as Sony and Piccoma. This marks Netmarble’s first direct investment in an anime, although the company had previously supported projects like the Ni no Kuni franchise in 2019.

Netmarble’s connection with Solo Leveling is far from new. The company developed the hit action RPG Solo Leveling: ARISE, which became one of the top-grossing games in 27 countries after its global launch. Additionally, Netmarble is working on new titles like Solo Leveling: KARMA and Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, showing clear plans to further expand the franchise.

A strong theory among fans is that Netmarble’s investment aims to ensure the continuation of the anime, maintaining worldwide hype while boosting player numbers for its related games.

Fans Wonder About Solo Leveling Season 3

Despite the huge investment, official news about Solo Leveling Season 3 remains scarce. English voice actor Aleks Le (Sung Jinwoo) has mentioned that the next season won’t arrive anytime soon. Producer Sota Furuhashi even joked that fans might only see it during the 2028 Olympics.

Netmarble’s funding has fueled fan theories. With a 20% stake, the project’s total budget is estimated at USD 7.25 million — far above the average USD 1-2 million for a typical 12-episode anime season.

This puts Solo Leveling in the realm of large-scale film productions. For comparison, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ had a budget of USD 5 million, while Dragon Ball Super: Broly reached USD 8.5 million.
