Did you watch the first episode of Sentenced to Be a Hero? If so, did you enjoy the animation itself and feel impressed by it, or did you also enjoy the story? If you liked the premise of Sentenced to Be a Hero, I’m here to recommend another anime called Yuusha no Kuzu.

Yuusha no Kuzu is set to premiere on January 11, and its animation is being handled by OLM, the same studio behind the Pokémon anime. It has already been confirmed as a 24-episode series.

Check out its synopsis below:

By the mid-21st century, Tokyo’s criminal underworld is ruled by Demon Lords—crime bosses who have undergone ether enhancement surgery, granting them terrifying superpowers.

The only ones capable of facing them are Heroes, bounty hunters who boost their own ether powers using the drug E3 (E-Three). With legalized killing as part of the job, being a Hero is less about justice and more about survival.

Yashiro, known as the Reaper, is one such Hero—an independent enforcer who works alone. That is, until Jougamine, a high school girl who calls herself his “apprentice,” forcibly enters his life. Reluctantly, Yashiro takes her under his wing and soon finds himself caught in a whirlwind of deadly conflicts.

How does it look to you? And what if I told you that Yuusha no Kuzu is based on a manga by the exact same author as Sentenced to Be a Hero?

Rocket Shoukai, the author, had what I would call incredible luck, with two of his works being adapted in the very same anime season by two different studios. Yes, both Sentenced to Be a Hero and Yuusha no Kuzu are creations by Shoukai.

There is even official artwork shared on both anime’s social media profiles, featuring the main characters of Yuusha no Kuzu on the left and those of Sentenced to Be a Hero on the right in the same illustration.

So, will you check out Yuusha no Kuzu on January 11?
