Review of Witch on the Holy Night

MahouTsukai no Yoru (Witch on the Holy Night) is Type-Moon’s most well-executed visual novel. This title is no different from the company’s other VNs when it comes to delivering a story with a dark yet charming atmosphere.

Witch on the Holy Night delivered everything and more. It’s a visual novel with an extremely rich story where you experience moments of tension and fun while following the characters’ journey.

This visual novel avoids what I personally see as mistakes that harm the player’s experience, like the affection system present in Tsukihime, another Type-Moon title. In Witch on the Holy Night, the player can simply enjoy the story told by Kinoko Nasu.

And who are the heroines of Witch on the Holy Night? Let’s start with Aoko Aozaki. I’d say she’s the most entertaining character in the story. She’s explosive, much like Rin Tohsaka from Fate. A very powerful and fun mage.

Then we have Alice Kuonji. She’s more reserved compared to Aoko, but still a very cool character. Either way, Kinoko Nasu knows how to create charming characters.

The charm present in Type-Moon’s stories is unquestionable. The story of Witch on the Holy Night is so engaging that you find yourself rooting for the characters. It’s not exactly a romance, but a battle between mages that is absolutely worth checking out.

Witch on the Holy Night will also receive an anime adaptation by Ufotable, the same studio behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Don’t waste any more time and play Witch on the Holy Night. In my opinion, it’s one of the highest-quality visual novels today. You need to experience Aoko Aozaki’s story!
