Nukitashi is a very popular eroge that was recently adapted into one of the craziest anime we’ve ever seen, and a curious situation involving the original game went viral on the Japanese internet.

Fans discovered that in Indonesia, when viewing Nukitashi’s Steam page, the game is rated “Ages 3 and up,” while games like Uma Musume and Metaphor: ReFantazio are rated for ages 18 and older.

This sparked a lot of curiosity among people, since Nukitashi is an erotic game set on an island where all residents are forced to engage in adult acts. So, why is that?

As you can see in the screenshot above, the non-adult game A Space for the Unbound, which contains heavy themes, received an 18+ rating, while Nukitashi, an eroge, received a 3+ rating.

What people don’t mention is that Nukitashi was only released on Steam because the developer removed all adult content. To give you an idea, the original Nukitashi takes around 40 hours to complete, while the Steam version lasts only about 2 hours.

In other words, by playing the Steam version, you lose nearly 38 hours of content. Of course, there is a patch that restores all the content, but this patch must be obtained outside of Steam.

Despite the existence of this patch, the rating for the Steam version is correct. And more than that, Brazil didn’t do anything different from Indonesia. If you check Nukitashi’s pages, you’ll see that the game is rated for all audiences, while Uma Musume is restricted to adults due to its gacha system (which I find ridiculous).

So, the situation is actually correct. And it’s worth remembering that Steam makes it quite difficult for eroges to be released on the platform in their original form, so developers usually have to heavily censor them.
