Mangaka Tried to Hide His Ecchi Manga From His Family

My Boyish Girlfriend Is Too Cute is an ecchi romantic comedy manga about two childhood friends who start dating, with the girl being a tomboy who still acts very feminine, which makes her especially cute. The author was trying to hide from his family that he was the one drawing this manga.
According to the mangaka himself, Gyuunyuu Mugigohan, the decision to keep everything a secret came from fear that his personal tastes and creative preferences would be discovered by his family. He believed that by keeping distance between his professional life and his personal life, he could avoid embarrassing situations.
However, as often happens, the plan did not work for long.

The most tense moment happened when a family member casually commented that they had seen his manga on display in a bookstore. To make matters worse, the volume mentioned had a cover illustration featuring characters in swimsuits, something the author definitely did not want to explain in a family setting. The comment alone was enough to make the mangaka panic, according to his own account.

On social media, Gyuunyuu Mugigohan shared the incident with his followers, describing the shock of realizing that his relatives had connected the dots. Even without directly mentioning the content of the work, the simple public recognition was enough to bring down years of carefully maintained anonymity.
Fan reactions were immediate. Many suggested that he should take the opportunity to finally come clean about his career to his family, while others showed empathy, understanding the discomfort of having creative preferences exposed outside a professional context.
Despite the support, the mangaka made it clear that he still feels extremely uncomfortable with the idea of his relatives understanding his inspirations and creative fetishes. In humorous replies, he even said he would prefer almost anything over having to explain the details of what he draws.
