Man Arrested for Distributing Indecent DVDs in Stores

Our story begins on December 9, 2025, when an employee at a laundromat in a rural town in Japan noticed that someone had left an apparently ordinary DVD on the counter, but with a handwritten message directly on the disc: “For healthy men: feel free to take this.”
Man Arrested for Distributing Indecent DVDs in Stores
At first, the situation might have seemed like a bizarre act of generosity, but curiosity quickly gave way to concern. The contents of the DVD were anything but innocent. The images included videos and photographs considered indecent, involving women in intimate situations, which raised suspicions of recordings made without consent, possibly using hidden cameras or clandestine recordings.

It was then that the police began searching for the person who had left the indecent DVD there. What made the story even more curious was the way the police identified the suspect. On the same night, another similar DVD was found in a convenience store near the laundromat.
After analyzing security camera footage from both locations, investigators were able to identify a pattern and, eventually, a common suspect.
The man was identified as an executive in the construction industry, living in the city of Mima, a few municipalities away. Despite his advanced age (67 years old) and professional position, he was detained on suspicion of distributing obscene material.

During questioning, the suspect denied the allegations, stating that he did not leave obscene DVDs in any store. Even so, the police continue to investigate other similar cases that have occurred recently in Komatsushima, attempting to determine whether there is a direct connection to the same individual.
Online reactions pointed out that while Japan is rapidly moving toward digital consumption, someone apparently decided to promote physical media in a completely wrong — and criminal — way.
