Konami Apologizes for Aging Sadistic 2nd-Year Vampire

Japanese developer Konami publicly apologized after making a mistake in their arcade music game, SOUND VOLTEX ∇. The controversy arose when the character Konoha, a sadistic vampire, was accidentally “aged up” in a promotional video, breaking the game’s canon.
Konoha is canonically a second-year student at Volte Academy Middle School, but the video presented her as a third-year student, causing confusion among fans.

The error was revealed during a special follower campaign on X to promote SOUND VOLTEX ∇, the latest entry in the series released in December 2025.
The video showed Konoha changing outfits, moving from her vampire nurse-inspired uniform to an even more revealing costume, while reenacting the sadistic “stomping” motion she performs on players in-game, a classic trait of the character.

After the confusion, Konami officially clarified that Konoha is still a second-year student. The statement, posted on the SOUND VOLTEX team’s X account, said: “There was an error in the description ‘3rd-year student at Volte Academy Middle School.’ The correct grade is ‘2nd-year.’ We apologize for any confusion caused and appreciate your continued support of SOUND VOLTEX.”
Isn’t it incredible that a simple mistake like this forces a company to issue a public apology to fans? It’s quite curious.
