Kako mocked Comick after the site shutdown

This week, those who enjoy reading manga online took a major hit: the site Comick, which many people used to read manga and manhwas, suddenly announced it would shut down and closed.

In its closure statement, they didn’t explain the reason for shutting down the site, only that they were going to close it. However, the real reason was revealed in a post that many fans found tasteless.

It was all Kakao’s fault, the company that owns several manhwas and actively shuts down manga piracy sites. In a post on their anti-piracy profile, P.CoK, Kakao mocked Comick with an image of the site offline and the following caption:

“Hello Comick operator, did you pick up our call? Piracy site down = your Karma”

The tweet didn’t sit well with people, and these were some of the reactions:

  • Die, damn demon

  • Screw these guys, two more sites will replace Comick

  • Then offer a better service instead of doing shit like this

  • These guys really think they’re helping authors and manhwa illustrators when in fact they’re doing the opposite

  • I’m sad, I don’t want to pay per chapter to read

  • You can’t eliminate all pirated manga in the world, get over it

  • You won’t see the light of paradise

  • You don’t deserve to breathe the same oxygen as us

  • What garbage

  • Honestly, fuck off

  • Do you really think you did something good? I hope you rot in hell

  • Hail Hydra, I’ll open one in my country, try suing me

  • Could you guys go bankrupt please?

If you want to see more reactions and comments, you can check Kakao’s post. I never imagined I’d see the day when a publisher mocked a pirate site after forcing it to close.
