Japanese Hostess goes viral after dieting to have the Same Body as Marin
A Japanese hostess gained online attention after going viral for saying she even went on a diet to get the same body as Marin, the heroine of My Dress-Up Darling.
The hostess, known as Nagichi on Twitter (X), shared a photo of herself with the caption:
“I love Marin-san so much that I ended up having almost the same measurements as her〜♡,” she wrote on her post.
Her post received over 4 million views, spreading quickly across various platforms where many people began sharing their opinions about her body.

Below is an image of Marin’s body for comparison. Obviously, aside from the bust area, the rest doesn’t seem all that similar (and Nagichi herself mentioned her measurements were just close). It does make you wonder whether the measurements authors give to anime characters really translate well to real life.
Despite receiving many positive comments, she also got some negative reactions for trying to have Marin Kitagawa’s body. In response, she tweeted:
“I love and admire Marin Kitagawa so much that I wanted to look a little more like her — at least in body shape. I worked hard on my diet to have similar measurements, that’s all. I never once thought I could become Kitagawa Marin — she’s an unreachable goddess. So please, don’t say such cruel things.”
She continued:
“I know my tattoos, my face, and my body aren’t perfect, and that I look quite different. I’m aware of that — that’s why I only cosplay at home. Is it really so wrong to want to get a little closer to someone you admire? 😭 I just really love Kitagawa Marin and the anime My Dress-Up Darling 😭”
Some people commented that she looked too thin or that her tattoos were distracting. Nagichi later made another post, taking things more humorously:
“I know there are many opinions out there, but could you forgive me because of these boobs?”
Looking through her profile, it’s clear she’s been a big fan of Marin for quite some time — she’s been posting Marin cosplays since last year.
