The Next Manga by Chainsaw Man Creator Fujimoto is a Horror Romance?

What will be the next manga by Chainsaw Man creator Fujimoto? There are some things he has said in interviews that give us a good idea of what we can expect.

At the beginning of 2020, Fujimoto gave an interview to the French magazine ATOM, where we find the following excerpt:

Question: Considering that the concept of Chainsaw Man came to your mind while you were drawing Fire Punch, are you already developing the early stages of a future series while drawing Chainsaw Man?

Fujimoto’s answer: (laughs) I have some ideas, yes! In particular, I have a story that would start as a romantic comedy, in which there would be, at the beginning, several heroines, but only one of them would manage to find love. Disheartened, the other girls would commit suicide and return as materialized evil spirits to haunt the everyday life of the one who managed to get a boyfriend. Do you like it?

Some people are trying to compare this to Makeine, but it doesn’t seem similar at all. Makeine is about girls who lost in their respective romantic disputes, each with her own “rival.”

Still, it is an interesting idea. But is this the same manga that Fujimoto mentioned in 2021? In 2021, a Chainsaw Man exhibition took place in France, and on one of the panels there was a statement from the author saying the following:

“I wanted to create something about the ‘femme fatale.’ I love this classic image of the woman who destroys everything in her path! In my opinion, this will please fans of the genre. But I am still far from finished; I still have many things to draw. Destruction can take many forms.”

In other words, he has the idea of a romance where the girls who lose kill themselves and come back to haunt the winner, but he also has something involving the ‘femme fatale’ concept in mind as his next manga.
