The author of Hinako Note, Mitsuki, started her YouTube channel and, surprisingly, in her second video, she wanted to talk about the “dark side of Hinako Note,” where she explains why the manga ended, whether she was blocked by the voice actresses, and more.
For context, Hinako Note ran for only 7 volumes and was published from 2014 to 2021. After that, Mitsuki started publishing hentai featuring the characters from Hinako Note, which confused many fans. Now, we know the truth directly from the author herself.
Hinako Note Ended Because the Author Wanted to Draw Hentai
Mitsuki starts by clarifying that the manga was not canceled and that her relationship with the editorial team is excellent. The truth is that she wanted to create adult manga. She explains:
“The magazine (Comic Cune, where Hinako Note was published) had a policy that certain types of stories were not allowed. So, I spent about six years quietly drawing lighthearted daily-life manga while keeping my more daring ideas sealed away.”
Over the years, Comic Cune changed its policies, and more ecchi content became allowed. When Mitsuki spoke with her editor, she said she wanted volume 7 of Hinako Note to be more daring. She expected to get scolded but instead the editor replied, smiling, “Okay.”
Despite this, Mitsuki emphasizes that Hinako Note is a “precious treasure, cultivated thanks to Comic Cune, Kadokawa, and the fans.” So she decided it was best to conclude the series so that she could finally work on the projects she wanted—hentai.
Currently, she is involved in a new project and also continues creating hentais on her Fanbox.
Was the Author Blocked by the Voice Actresses?
There is a famous rumor in the industry that she was blocked by the voice actresses of the Hinako Note anime, probably because she started creating hentais with the girls.
However, Mitsuki revealed that this is not true. She says she maintains a good relationship with the voice actresses and that they even like her posts today.
Mitsuki also mentioned that she finds the rumor amusing and hopes it continues.
