Haunted Room! Urami-chan Is an Adorable Supernatural Time-Travel Game Coming in 2026

Have you ever played Ghost Trick? In that game, you control a ghost and travel through time to prevent the deaths of several characters. Now, Ghost Trick fans may have gotten a more “kawaii” version of the concept in the form of Haunted Room! Urami-chan.

Haunted Room! Urami-chan is a new Japanese supernatural game that caught attention after being announced for 2026 during the INDIE Live Expo event. With an extremely cute pop-style visual, the game puts players in control of a friendly yet tragic little ghost who is bound to an apartment.

The story of Haunted Room! Urami-chan takes place on December 31, 1988. After the murder of the resident Noroi-san in one of the apartment rooms, the building faces the risk of being demolished. For Urami-chan, a spirit tied to the location, this means disappearing, as spirits of this type cease to exist once they lose their home.

With the help of Onebii, a human spirit, Urami-chan decides to travel back in time to try to change Noroi-san’s fate. The player follows this journey into the past and begins to directly intervene in the resident’s daily routine over the course of one month, from the day she moves in until the day of the crime.

Haunted Room! Urami-chan is described as an observation game focused on intervening in the resident’s life. Each day, the player observes around three hours of Noroi-san’s routine, from when she returns home to when she goes to sleep.

During this time, Urami-chan can perform several actions to get the resident’s attention or influence her behavior. One of these actions involves the spirit punching furniture and doors to lure Noroi-san to a specific location. However, if she is too focused, she may not notice.

Another important ability is telekinesis, which allows spiritual energy to be used to possess or manipulate objects in the environment. By causing small supernatural anomalies, the player gradually begins to alter events from the past.

At the end of each three-hour session, the player returns to the present. If a significant change has occurred, the date for the next return to the past is updated. As Urami-chan gains experience and successfully scares Noroi-san more often, the number of possible anomalies increases.

The central idea is that small interventions can lead to major changes. If the player manages to alter key events in the past, it may not only save Noroi-san but also change Urami-chan’s own fate, as she struggles to avoid disappearing along with the apartment.

One of the biggest highlights of Haunted Room! Urami-chan is its extremely adorable visual style. The little ghost is incredibly cute and even has fun laughing while scaring the apartment’s resident.

The game is being developed by the studio Minimum Box and published by 15 Industry. Haunted Room! Urami-chan will be released for PC via Steam in 2026 and will also feature an English version.
