Hatsune Miku Gets Modernized Look for New V6 Version

Hatsune Miku V6 has officially been revealed and marks a new phase for the famous virtual singer from the Vocaloid franchise. The character, who has existed since 2007, received a redesign that modernizes her appearance, retiring her classic look.
The update was presented by Crypton Future Media, the company responsible for the character. The new design for Hatsune Miku V6 brings subtle but noticeable changes that make the character look cleaner and more modern.

The Hatsune Miku redesign for V6 aims to simplify several elements that were present in previous versions of the character. The idea was to create a look that still reminds fans of classic versions of the Vocaloid singer, but with an aesthetic closer to modern anime designs.
First, this was her more classic look:

And now the redesign:

Among the changes, the character’s colors are now more vibrant and her outfit received small adjustments. The top is now slightly shorter, showing part of her stomach, while the shirt looks more fitted. The arms also lost the bulkier look seen in previous versions.
Another important change involves her headphones. Instead of the classic large headset that covered the ears, the new design features modern earphones connected from the back of her head. Her boots also received a more stylized look.
From the side, Miku’s iconic twintails also appear slightly different. Depending on the angle, they can look more like a long ponytail rather than the traditional twin tails that became one of her trademark features.
According to Crypton, the new Hatsune Miku redesign was developed in collaboration with illustrator LAM. The goal was to create a design that keeps the essence of the character while also giving her a more modern and flexible look for future updates of the software.

Another objective of the redesign is to make it easier for the character to expand into multiple languages. The company wants to make the system more global, allowing Vocaloid technology to be used in international music projects more easily.
Besides the visual changes, the program also received improvements to the voice system. Crypton stated that fan suggestions and feedback were taken into consideration during the development of this new version.
Hatsune Miku V6 is scheduled to be released on April 14, 2026, and will be the first major update to the Vocaloid software in about six years. What do you think about her new look?
